Robert Gatewood MBA
“Bridging systems, strategy, and opportunity so small businesses can thrive.”
Robert L. Gatewood is an entrepreneur, educator, and advocate for economic justice whose life’s work is focused on helping small businesses thrive. Raised by a sharecropping Baptist minister and a devoted homemaker, he learned early the values of independence, resilience, and community responsibility. By age eight he was running the family grocery store, and by thirteen he launched his first business—shaping a lifelong belief that success is built, not given.
Gatewood earned a degree in Pre-Law and Political Science, later completing an MBA to deepen his strategic and operational expertise. He has also recently earned a certification in AI development, aligning emerging technology with practical business growth for today’s entrepreneurs.
After holding corporate officer roles, Gatewood served eight years as a consultant to the U.S. Small Business Administration, gaining firsthand insight into how policy, capital, and access can either empower or exclude small businesses. That experience led him to found Gatewood Marketing, a firm dedicated to helping minority-owned, small, and startup businesses compete, grow, and sustain themselves.
An adjunct professor at Prince George’s Community College, author of two books, and creator of the Marketing Pulpit Show, Gatewood uses education, media, and strategy to remove barriers and expand opportunity. Across every role, his purpose remains constant: to bridge systems and people, expand economic access, and help individuals and businesses put their best foot forward.
